I met Philomena once, at her assisted living facility in Manassas, VA, this summer of 2019, while on a Legion of Mary visit. Philomena was sitting at the lunch table, her head bowed, but she started quietly speaking to me. I had a hard time hearing Philomena standing next to her, and so I knelt down beside her, so I could hear her words. She looked at me with bright eyes full of light, and gave me advice about how people view me (some people say you are a bad man, some say you are a good man - but I know that you are a very good man), and about my job, and how difficult it is (if you were not there, no one could do that job). She offered me much encouragement to keep up my good work. I felt a wonderful and blessed, holy warmth from Philomena. After our talk, I and my Legion of Mary partner left Philomena with some Catholic religious materials she selected, and I prayed with Philomena that God bless her very greatly, and always keep her in his loving care. My one visit with Philomena touched me deeply. I know that Philomena was a wonderful and blessed woman, and is now looking down upon us happily from God's holy and eternal kingdom in Heaven.
