Robert Louis  Jameson
Robert Louis Jameson, age 97, of Brownsville, PA has changed his address from Brownsville to Heaven. This happened on Monday, August 6, 2018.
He was born on July 11, 1921 in Brownville, PA.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Arthur Adelbert Jameson and Amy Snyder Jameson and two brothers, James Adelbert Jameson and Richard Snyder Jameson.
Bob graduated from Brownsville High School in 1940, studied piano, harmony and theory from Dr. Charles Veon at California State Teachers College while attending High School. He attended Douglas Business College one and one half years, graduated from California State Teachers College, Bachelor of Science in Education, attended West VA University for graduate studies, also Purdue University for short course in Turf Management.
In the early 1940's he (under Civil Service started and operated the Office of Price Administration #5 Ration Board.
He served in the US Army Air Force for over three and one half years. Two of those years were in the South Atlantic Transport Command 2 plus years overseas.
Upon returning home to stateside, he taught music (Piano) in the Luzerne and Brownsville School District for six years.
Later he became a Manufacturer's Representative, first selling Reymers Lemon Blennd and candy, then chemical to golf courses, etc. His area was the entire Mid Atlantic States, He retired in 1985 then was employed by Aloe Coal Company as a leasing agent.
He has been a member of the Pittsburgh Candy Club, Pennsylvania Restaurant Association, National Hardware Association, the National Restaurant Association, The Gideons International, Fayette County Gideons, the American Legion and Penn Craft Community Association.
However, the closest to his heart were his church, South Brownsville United Methodist Church and the Gideons International. (The Bible people) He taught all ages of Sunday School classes including all adult classes plus filling the pulpit many times as well as playing the piano and organ frequently for churches and other organizations. He always enjoyed singing in the choir and many cantatas that his wife, Louise, conducted.
For many years he had beef cattle and horses around as well as chickens, capons, etc. In addition to composing music he wrote his memoirs about his life journey, titled, "Looking Over My Shoulder in My Mid Eighties."
He and Louise were faithful in taking time out to work-out at the YMCA gym 3 days a week. They encouraged others to do the same, if at all possible. It keeps one "physically strong, mentally alert and morally straight." Camping and trailering were "tops" with them.
He and Louise were volunteers with Amedisys Hospice for nine years.
His life goal--God First, Others second and Self last.
Robert is survived by his wife for 73 years, Louise Rose Jameson,
daughter, Holly C. Jameson Winans of Brownsville,
and son, Robert C. Jameson and wife Barbara of Daisytown, PA.;
grandson, William V. Winans and wife Kathryn M. Winans,
and great grandchildren, Jade Marlena Winans and Brooke Alayna Winans;
granddaughter, Jamie Dawn Winans Harris and husband Kurt W. Harris and great grandchildren, Makayla Louise Harris , Ayva Sonnette Harris and Lyla Dawn Harris.
Friends will be received in the Skirpan Funeral Home, 135 Park St., Brownsville, PA on Thursday from 3 - 7 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Frank Philpott and Pastor Jay Polowsky officiating. Interment in Lafayette Memorial Park with full military rites accorded by American Legion Post 295, 940 and 838. In lieu of any flowers, donations could be made to the South Brownsville United Methodist Church, 412 Second St., Brownsville, PA 15417 or Fayette County Gideons, Box 465, Hopwood, PA 15445.
