Harry  Dennis  Sheehan
Harry D. Sheehan Age 78, of Brownsville, PA passed away at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh surrounded by his caring family on April 15, 2018. Harry was born on May 24, 1939, the son of Joseph and Rachel (Swearingen) Sheehan. Harry is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Elaine (Stefl) Sheehan; his proud children, son Thomas & wife Betsy; daughter Terry; daughter Tracy and husband Mickey Zivkovich; and his cherished grandchildren, Christopher (Megan) Zivkovich, Craig (Christina) Zivkovich, Carey (Melissa) Zivkovich, Kelsey (CJ) Moody, Katey Sheehan, Kendall Duke & Korey Sheehan. Harry is also survived by his brothers, Francis (‘Sam’) (Carol), Daniel (Pam); sisters Lois Carr, Joanne (Scotty) Bryan. And Kathy Burke; Sisters-in-law, Mary Ruth Sheehan, Joyce Sheehan, and Jane Sheehan plus a ridiculous number of Irish nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Patricia Vielhaber; his brothers Joseph (JT), Timothy and John, and his nephews Jay and Danny.

Harry graduated from Brownsville class of 57, and then he started his career as a butcher at the family (Sheehan’s) grocery store. Harry also pursued his lifelong love of cars and opened his Sheehan’s Automotive garage in Brownsville. Harry’s passion was Drag Racing. Harry spent 60 years racing at tracks all over the country. He was inducted into the Pittsburgh International Dragway Hall of Fame in 2005 and also inducted into the Keystone Raceway Park Hall Of Fame in 2014. He then was inducted to the Eldora Raceway Park Hall of Fame last year (2017). Harry was driver of the year at these tracks several times through the years.

Friends will be received in the Skirpan Funeral Home, 135 Park Street, Brownsville PA 15417 on Wednesday, April 18 from 2 – 8 PM. A final viewing will be held Thursday April 19 morning until 10:30 AM when a prayer service will be held followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in the Historic St. Peters Church with the Rev. Fr. Timothy J. Kruthaupt as the celebrant, interment to follow in Lafayette Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Historic Church of St. Peter building fund.
