Obituary for Pete DeRose

Pete  DeRose
Pete L. DeRose, age 93, of Herbert, PA passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at his home.

He was born on December 11, 1924 in Tower Hill #2, PA
Son of the late Salvatore and Mary (Serra) DeRose

Pete was employed as a Foreman and Mason/Contractor with Local #286. He was honored for being a 50 year member of the Local #286.
Pete was a member of the former St. Procopius R.C. Church in New Salem, PA and currently a member of St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Church of Footedale, PA.
He was a Veteran of World War II where he served in the 7th Infantry Regiment.
He was a Prisoner of War for 16 months.
Pete was a 72 year member of The American Legion Post #590 in Republic, PA
Member of The Hopwood AMVETS Post #103
Uniontown American Legion
Member of the Forty and Eight Veterans Group
He was a member of The Fairbank Rod & Gun Club and in 2013, Pete was awarded the Prestigious Grubish-Shannon Outstanding Service Award for appreciation and his unwavering dedication to the club for his countless hours of volunteer service.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Frank, Natale and Dominick DeRose
3 sisters: Caroline Gallo, Carmalina DeRose, and Josephine Adams

Pete is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years: Mary S. (Scabis) DeRose
2 daughters: Paula DeRose-Petrie and husband Ted - Uniontown, PA
Tina DeRose-Gulino and husband Nick - Uniontown, PA
2 granddaughters: Giavanna Gulino and Valentina Gulino
1 brother: Angelo DeRose
Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in The Skirpan Funeral Home 680 Cherry Tree Lane Uniontown, PA on Friday from 2-5 and 6-8PM and on Saturday until 12:15PM where a Prayer Service will be held followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00PM at St. Francis of Assisi R.C. Church - Footedale Site, with the Rev. Fr. William G. Berkey as Celebrant. Entombment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park where Full Military Honors will be accorded by The Hopwood AMVETS Post #103.

The family wants to thank his caregivers, home health aides, his physicians, especially Dr. Iannamorelli and his staff, Amedisys Hospice and The Uniontown Veterans Affairs for all of their wonderful care, kindness, and compassion.
