Francis  Smith
Francis Patrick Smith, age 69, of Smock, PA passed away from Leukemia on Sunday, February 4, 2018 in Shadyside Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born on March 8, 1948 in Brownsville, PA
Son of the late Michael and Mary (Franks) Smith

Fran was Catholic by Faith and attended The Historic Church of St. Peter and also St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church both in Brownsville, PA.

He graduated from Brashear Senior High School, Class of 1966 in Brownsville, PA.
Fran received his Bachelor's Degree from Salem College in West Virginia and his Master's Degree from West Virginia University.

"Bird" was a co-captain of The Salem College Football Team, which was inducted into The Salem International University Athletic Hall of Fame. Fran taught at The Brownsville Area High School for 38 years. He was also a previous assistant football coach at BAHS. He was an avid fan of all sports.

Fran was a wonderful man with a kind heart and jovial laugh. He was a friend to all, enjoyed talking to people, and helping those in need. He loved spending time with his family, especially his great-nephews, Michael and Jackson, and his great-niece, Santina.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, and his father-in-law, Carl "Shop" Martin

Mother-in-law: Pauline (Pie) Martin
Sister-in-law: Tina Libertini and husband Martin and their children Christina, Maria (Joe), Carey Lynn, and Martin (Kristen).

Friends will be received in The Skirpan Funeral Home 135 Park Street Brownsville, PA on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 and on Saturday until 9:30AM where a Prayer Service will be held followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at The Historic Church of St. Peter, Brownsville, PA with the Rev. Fr. Timothy J. Kruthaupt as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Byzantine Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to your charity of choice in Fran's Name.
