Obituary for Willard E. "Pappaw" Biddle Jr.

Willard E. "Pappaw"  Biddle Jr.
Willard E. Biddle, Jr. (Pappaw), age 91 of Maxwell, PA went to be with The Lord on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

He was born on November 29, 1926 in Brownsville, PA to the late Willard E. Biddle, Sr. and Mildred (Haregsin) Biddle.

Along with his parents, Willard was preceded in death by his brother, Robert;
grandson, Thomas (Marshall) Biddle; and great-grandson, Thomas Biddle.

Willard graduated from Brownsville High School Class of 1945.
He served in The United States Navy and was a Veteran of WWII.
He retired from General Motors Corp., Fisher Body Plant in West Mifflin, PA and was a member of The UAW Local 544.

He was an active member of The First Christian Church of Republic, PA where he served as a deacon, a member of The Christian Men's Fellowship and played many years in the church dartball league.

Willard was a proud lifetime member of The Luzerne Township Volunteer Fire Company, where he served for many years as Fire Chief and most recently, as Fire Police Captain.

He belonged to the American Legion Post #295 of Brownsville, PA, V.F.W. Post #8543 of Uniontown, PA and The Nixon Gun Club. Willard as an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends.

Willard is survived by his loving wife of 67 years: Faye (Mains) Biddle
3 children: Willard III (Martha) of Maxwell, PA
Wendy Landman of Brownsville, PA
Kirby (Nancy) of LaBelle, PA
7 grandchildren: Melissa, Willard IV, Angela, Nathan, Jodi, Bobby, and David.
11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great garndchildren
Many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in The Skirpan Funeral Home 135 Park Street Brownsville, PA on Tuesday, December 26th from 2-8PM and on Wednesday where a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM with Rev. Charles House officiating. Entombment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park where full Military Rites will be accorded by The American Legion Posts #295, 940, 838, and 275.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Willard's name to: The First Christian Church of Republic, 183 Republic Road, Republic, PA 15475
